Mystery
Dog Ranch derived its name from the Indian Legend of the Mystery Dog...
Years and years ago the Indian utilized their canine friends as their means
of transportation. His life and habits quickly changed with the acquisition
of the horse.
The
Indians of the southwest were the first to obtain the horse. When he first
saw the horse the Indian was frightened. He thought the horse and its rider
were one animal. Some considered it sacred.
The
Siksika Indians called the horse "Elk Dog". The Cree Indians called the horse
"Big Dog", and the Dakota Indians called the horse "Mystery Dog". From this
Indian legend, we invite you to visit our "sacred" friends at Mystery Dog
Ranch. Our horses are some of the finest in Northwest Georgia.
